Sweden

South Sweden:

Five years ago I met a very curious fox puppy on a family vacation in Sweden. And out of this encounter I later edited my first film ever. Due to that and many more memorable encounters I had that year, Sweden has always been one of my favorite places for wildlife photography.
So I was very excited that I had the opportunity to visit Sweden again after a few years that I haven’t been there. My girlfriend and me first stayed two weeks in the south of Sweden. There, we spent a lot of time exploring the surrounding area. We found a very nice lake nearby where I managed to film seagulls and tern in front of a wonderful sunset. In addition to that I photographed my first ever bittern there. I also set up a camouflage tent on a meadow where I filmed some deer in the early mornings.
And I was very happy to meet up with Olle Nilsson, a fellow wildlife photographer. We had a lot of fun and he took me to his kingfisher place. But not only that, together with Olle we saw our first moose of the trip which was so magical!
So in the next evenings when the sun set we spent a lot of time driving around in the car to see more moose and we had some wonderful encounters that way. While filming one moose I noticed a movement from the trees and suddenly a group of wild boars came running across the meadow. And they didn’t get past unnoticed: The moose stayed still for a moment and then ran towards them. The wild boars had enough respect to immediately disappear right to where they had come from.

North Sweden:

After two weeks we drove north where Danni Connor had invited us to stay at their house. We had a great time and I am very honored to have met Dani’s famous red squirrels. In the forest I made the acquaintance of Ghost who was also a fantastic model. And for the first time ever I experienced it not getting dark over night. The sun only set for a few hours and during that time it was still very bright outside. This was perfect for going in search for moose again - and we found a lot of them. We often stayed up till 4 am and in our best night we even saw as many as 6 moose. One encounter with a young bull was especially nice. He was very close munching away at some leaves. Having had to go back home after a week definitely wasn’t easy and I can’t wait to come back as soon as possible.
