After my trip to Sweden I had only one week at home. Right after that I was going to Wales with my family.
I was very happy to find a river right in front of the place where we were staying. Just a few minutes after we arrived a kingfisher flew by so I decided to try photograph it.
Over the next days I set up a hide next to the river and put a branch in front of it. And I got lucky. The very first time I tried to wait for the kingfisher it perched right in front of me on the branch I placed there. It stayed for a few minutes while I was filming. Such a magical encounter!
And while sitting in the hide I also saw a dipper nearby. So on another day I got my camera gear to a little rock island in the middle of the river where I camouflaged myself hoping to see the dipper. But after an hour of waiting I noticed something big in the water and it turned out to be two otters that came swimming right towards me. I managed to film them in slow motion while they were making a short walk along the river bank before they swam past me and disappeared. I had never seen otters before and this was definitely the biggest highlight of the trip for me!
But we also managed to visit Skomer Island one day where I saw my first puffins ever which was also so lovely! And in addition to that I could watch some seals sleeping in the water that day.
